October 31, 2008
Oh my manners, I have been posting stuff all day and completely forgot to wish everyone a very Happy Halloween from everyone at Geek, Actually.
Greta Goes Out This Weekend
October 31, 2008
What the hell is Greta I hear you cry!
Greta is our new, for lack of a better word, Geek Actually mascot. She is a geek dream of beauty. I am going to release a bunch of wallpapers for your computers so you don’t forget to listen to Geek, Actually. For the girls out there, I hope you enjoy Greta too. We might come up with a male geek god at sometime but for the moment Greta will do.
Greta is a poser creation and is using lots of props and clothes made by some very talented people, when she launches, I will list a few of these creative souls.
I give to you a sneak peak at the first wallpaper, this is just a portion of the whole picture. Let me know what you think.
Note: I am looking for a better term than Mascot. I don’t think it is a very PC phrase to use when depicting a female
If you can give me a better phrase I would be very happy.

New Valkyrie Photos – Is It Finally Coming Out?!?!
October 31, 2008
Okay, on the last episode of the netcast (podcast) we mentioned Valkyrie and we basically bagged it out and said that it is a disaster waiting to be released. Well United Artist has released 4 new images from the film and announced a final trailer for tomorrow. The film is scheduled for a December 26th release, that date kept moving around but it looks like we have a lock now. Click the photo below to take you to comingsoon.net to see the other photos and read the full press release.
I Wish I Had a Teacher Like This in School!
October 31, 2008
A teacher in Germany performed a strip tease for her students (15 year olds) because she was dared to do so in a game of Truth or Dare! Because we live in a modern world it was caught on camera, yay!
The parents demanded she be fired but she was let off with a warning. The real question is not why she did the striptease, but why the hell was she playing truth or dare with the students in the first place!?!?
Also, what the hell was the question she didn’t want to answer? It must have been a doozy if she chose the dare instead
Here is the video:
Thanks go out to Jason Calacanis at Mahalo for bringing this to my attention.
The 11th Doctor is Coming Soon
October 31, 2008
The rumours are finally confirmed, David Tennant is stepping down as Doctor Who. He will play the role in some special episodes through 2009 and do the Christmas special but then he is moving on.
“I’ve had the most brilliant, bewildering and life changing time working on Doctor Who,” said Tennant, who described the part as the “best job in the world”.
“I have loved every day of it. It would be very easy to cling on to the Tardis console forever and I fear that if I don’t take a deep breath and make the decision to move on now, then I simply never will. You would be prising the Tardis key out of my cold, dead hand.”
The rumour mill is now wondering who will play The Doctor next. Names that have been bounced around so far, David Morrissey, Paterson Joseph, James McAvoy, James Nesbitt and john Simm.
The hot name from a few months ago was Robert Carlyle.
Have We Reached the Bottom of the Remakes Barrel?
October 30, 2008
I just found an article on comingsoon.net that says that Samuel L. Jackson is planning to star in a remake of Barry Gordy’s The Last Dragon!!!
Crap, the original was total crap! It was a stupid Motown film trying to cash in on the 80s martial arts craze. It had some of the worst writing, acting and visual effects going. Cannon Films (Gloan and Globus) could have made a better film.
Why, for the love of god would you remake this junk? More importantly, doesn’t Samuel L. Jackson have better things to do?

And That’s Not All … Obama Infomercial

The American voters living overseas (like myself) may not get to see this video on TV so I am presenting it here.
Remember to vote everyone!
Sitcom Hell or Three Losers in Search of a Lobe!
October 30, 2008
We’ll just file this in the “what the hell!” box.
Apparently, Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton have been approached to star in a new HBO sitcom that is supposed to be a cross between Friends and Ugly Betty.
HBO, (which has produced some quality TV with shows like Sex and the City, Deadwood, The Sopranos, Tell Me You Love Me, True Blood etc.) are reportedly keen to sign up the blonde trio to appear as flatmates struggling to make it big in Hollywood. The plot would see the trio of blondes playing roommates trying to make it big in their desired professions.
Interestingly, they would not be straying to far from their real lives as Paris would be playing a designer trying to make it big, Britney would be playing an aspiring singer and Lindsay an actress.
HBO are said to have approached Extras star Ricky Gervais and Desperate Housewives creator Mark Cherry to pen the script!
This all just sounds like a nightmare and I don’t believe it would ever happen. It would definitely be a train wreck and we would probably be unable to take our eyes from the screen.

Internet Censorship Hits A Wall
October 30, 2008
Just following on from this weeks netcast (episode 12), The Sydney Morning Herald published a story today that says the Senate is having some problems with Prime Minister Rudd’s proposal. This is very good news.
I have a real problem with this proposal because it would infringe on everyone’s basic freedoms. I am not a supporter of child pornography or any other illegal activity, but when a proposal like this can come out and say that it wants to filter out (read “ban”) offensive material as well, alarm bells go off in my head! Offensive to who?
In the article today, Senator Ludlam said server-level filtering imposed a kind of censorship that “runs counter to what the internet is all about”. The Government would be better investing the filtering money in law enforcement and education.
“I think it’s really quite misguided,” Senator Ludlam said.
I could not have agreed with him more. If people break the law, enforce the law but if people just want to satisfy a sexual curiosity (and it doesn’t break the law) they should be allowed to. If we had a more open minded approach to sex (and let’s face it, this is all about sex), we probably wouldn’t find the act of a man and a woman having intercourse offensive!
Anyway, read the article at the link above and listen to episode 12 of our netcast if you want a little back story.
