Geek Actually Episode 20 – Some Christmas Hollie

Geek ActuallyHosts: David McVay and Mirren Lee with special guest Hollie McKay

Mirren and David return for the first show of the year. Jacob is lost in wilds of New Zealand :-)

Mirren reviews the new film “Defiance” by Edward Zwick and David reviews Clint Eastwood’s latest, “Gran Torino”. Both films are well recieved.

We have a special guest interview with foxnews.com’s entertainment reporter, Hollie McKay. Hollie was here in Sydney for a two week vacation and blessed us with a little of her precious time. Very entertaining and informative.

We follow this up with a little film and tech news that includes LG’s new Dick Tracy watch, Macworld 2009, The remake of “Jack the Giant Killer”, Pegg and Frost in “Tin Tin” and the latest on “Tron 2.0?.

This episode carries an explicit tag due to possible, infrequent, bad language.

NB: I know this episode is a little late, listen to the episode for the explanation.

Here’s Hollie! You can read Hollie’s stuff at http://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/index.html and click the Pop Tarts link.

I enjoyed the last podcast, and appreciated the comments about the actors who purse. However, in order to balance things out, you really should devote a few minutes to the worst female purser — Renee Zellweger. Between the pursing, the squinting, and (my personal favorite) the squinty pursing, I really can’t decide if she’s a good actress or not! Keep up the great work!

I agree with you 100% Lisa. Come on guys, Renee irritates the hell out of me with those beady little eyes :-)

I loved Hollie, she is so inspiring.

  1. Okay, I spoke to Mirren about this and Lisa A. is completely right. We had somehow forgotten about Renee, she is indeed a very squinty pursy person and yes I think she actually is getting worse with age. I figure in a couple more years we won’t be able to see her eyes at all :-)

I used to like Renee, but she is starting to bug me nowadays.

I am glad you both enjoyed the podcast, and look forward to future comments. We will try to get everything back to normal now, the internet finally got turned back on today!

Fantastic episode to start the new year. Once again I was laughing out loud at the intro – Mirren at her Grumpy Old Woman best. But the interview with Holly McKay was an absolute standout. Great interviewing and fantastic guest. I love her – and she’s only 23! What an impressive young woman.

    Glad to have you back.
