Sam Mendes Directing The New Apple iPhone Ad

Well it would seem to confirm that the new iPhone is on it’s way because news came out today from Engadget that Sam Mendes, the Oscar winning director of ‘American Beauty’, ‘Road to Perdition’ and ‘Jarhead’, is directing a new series of commercials for Apple to show off the new phone.

The rumour of the front facing camera on the next generation iPhone also seems to be confirmed as it is reported that at least one of the new spots will feature video chatting.

Engadget also did a quick search on Twitter and found an actress who is going to audition for a role in the new ads, her post read “audition tomorrow for a F***ing apple commercial directed by Sam Mendes. going to go pray for like 24 hours straight for a miracle.” This could give weight to this report.

Apple ads are not really known for long narratives, so it is interesting that a big name director has been brought in, is Apple changing the look of their ad campaigns? It will be interesting to see these new ads.

The new iPhone is expected to be officially revealed in early June at the Apple WWDC keynote. I, for one, am really excited about the new phone.
