Film Review

‘Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time’ directed by Mike Newell. The film was written by Boaz Yakin, Doug Miro and Carlo Bernard based on the video game series by Jordan Mechner. The film stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Gemma Arterton, Ben Kingsley, Alfred Molina, Steve Toussaint, Toby Kebbell and Richard Coyle.

The official plot according to Walt Disney Pictures is:
Set in the mystical lands of Persia, a rogue prince and a mysterious princess race against dark forces to safeguard an ancient dagger capable of releasing the Sands of Time — a gift from the gods that can reverse time and allow its possessor to rule the world.

Our Verdict: A so, so film that kids will probably love. On the most part the effects, design and action are good but the film is let down by mediocre writing, only passable performances and awful editing. Overall it is an okay, summer popcorn movie. Be prepared to disengage your brain on entering the cinema. Watch the trailer here.
