Remake Alert! Okay, now that is out of the way, this actually looks pretty hot. Charles Bronson was never one of my favourite action stars, he was pretty wooden and, in my opinion, not in the same league as other 70’s action icons Clint Eastwood or Steve McQueen. That being said, I liked the original “The Mechanic” (AKA “Killer of Killers”) but it wasn’t a favourite.
Flash forward to now and Simon West has directed a remake with Jason ‘badass of the decade’ Statham and Ben Foster. Simon West’s action credentials are solid with “Con Air” and the first of the “Tomb Raider” films under his belt. He also directed the pilot of TV’s “Human Target”. The cast and director plus a pretty solid source should equal some interesting ass kicking.
Be aware that this is the Red Band trailer for “The Mechanic” and as such should be considered NSFW.
“The Mechanic” is due for release January 28th in the States but no release date for Australia is set yet according to IMDB.
