This was a great way to launch your film. Imagine, if you will, that you are in a U.S. cinema and you have just sat down to watch “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” and a trailer starts to roll that is for a new romantic comedy starring Jason Segel and Amy Adams called “Green with Envy”. The film looks cheesy and corny and is about to out stay its welcome when all of sudden… wait, why don’t you picture all of the above, watch the trailer and then we’ll talk.
Okay, that was a nice surprise wasn’t it. “The Muppets” is looking good and I love this surprise trailer. I love the fact that it was even released on YouTube as “Green with Envy” so the surprise wasn’t spoiled for those cinema goers at “Pirates”. Awesome marketing Disney. They even went so far as to create a fake poster which you can see by clicking on the thumbnail below.
“The Muppets” is directed by James Bobin and written by Jason Segel & Nicholas Stoller based on characters by Jim Henson. It stars The Muppets and Jason Segel, Amy Adams, Emily Blunt, Zach Galifianakis, John Krasinski, Neil Patrick Harris, Selena Gomez, Jack Black, Danny Trejo and… oh forget it, let’s just say that Hollywood is in this film! It opens in Australian cinemas in January 2012. According to IMDB the plot is: “With the help of three fans, the Muppets must reunite in order to save their old studio from a greedy oil tycoon.”
