Glee The 3D Concert Movie Is Coming In August

Well it was inevitable, “Glee The 3D Concert Movie” hits cinemas in August. The “Glee” TV series is so popular that it has spawned a North American live concert tour. That tour was filmed and now fans of the series from around the world will be able to join the fun.

I am a fan of “Glee” and even though I don’t think I would have gone to see the live concert, I am interested enough to see the event on screen. There is no doubt that these guys can sing and they are fun to watch. This won’t be for everyone but if you are interested you’ll find the official press release from our friends at Twentieth Century Fox Film Distributors (Australia) below:

GLEE LIVE! IN CONCERT!” TO BECOME A THEATRICAL MOVIE EVENT – IN 3D

GLEE THE 3D CONCERT MOVIE – THE THEATRICAL FILM BASED ON THE HIT TV SHOW’S SMASH US/UK CONCERT TOUR, HITS CINEMAS AUGUST 11

“Glee” creator Ryan Murphy will produce and Kevin Tancharoen (“Fame”) will direct

Twentieth Century Fox Television and Twentieth Century Fox Film have partnered with GLEE creator Ryan Murphy to produce GLEE THE 3D CONCERT MOVIE, a film of the blockbuster “Glee Live! In Concert!” North American tour. Twentieth Century Fox will release the film – for a special limited engagement – in cinemas everywhere on August 11, 2011.

GLEE THE 3D CONCERT MOVIE will enable Australian fans – or, “Gleeks” – to experience the concert, which has never toured here, in the immersive magic of a 3D theatrical event.

Starring 14 members of the Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winning television show’s cast and shot live during the US summer concerts, the movie will capture the unique concert experience along with special moments involving the characters themselves.

“This tour was all about going out and performing for our amazing fans who have supported our show from the beginning, but due to the limited time we had to travel during our hiatus, there were only so many cities we could get to before we had to resume work on the television series,” commented Murphy. “We knew that not every fan who wanted to attend a concert would get that opportunity.  Now, thanks to our friends at Twentieth Century Fox Film, we’ll be able to bring the concert experience to movie cinemas in full three dimensional glory. We promise every passionate ‘Gleek’ a cinematic experience that will have them singing and dancing in the aisles.”

GLEE THE 3D CONCERT MOVIE will include live performances of some of the show’s most memorable musical numbers, including “I’m a Slave 4 U,” “Raise Your Glass,” “Teenage Dream,” and “Lucky,” as well as the original songs that became chart-toppers such as “Loser Like Me,” “Hell to the No!” and “Get it Right,” and of course, the show’s anthem,  “Don’t Stop Believin’.”

SYNOPSIS:

The smash television sensation GLEE became a record-breaking US summer concert phenomenon, selling out instantly.  Beginning August 11 for a limited engagement – Gleeks everywhere will be able to experience the unique concert experience in the immersive magic of a 3-D theatrical movie event.

The youthful brilliant director and former choreographer to Britney and Madonna Kevin Tancharoen was chosen to helm this project. It should be huge.
