Film Actually Ep069 – Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol

Hosts: David McVay, Josh Philpott & Richard Gray

For the next three weeks it is the silly season so Geek Actually is only putting out shorter episodes, consider this the holiday series. This week David , Josh and Richard review the new action blockbuster “Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol”. Because of the shorter run time they don’t tackle news this week, instead they roll straight into the famous Lists of Five – Five Great Movie Stunt Scenes. Film Actually is the official movie podcast of geekactually.com.

Feature Film Review

‘Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol’ directed by Brad Bird and written by Josh Appelbaum and André Nemecis and is based on the TV series by Bruce Geller. It stars Tom Cruise, Jeremy Renner, Simon Pegg, Paula Patton & Michael Nyqvist.

The IMF is shut down when it’s implicated in the bombing of the Kremlin, causing Ethan Hunt and his new team to go rogue to clear their organization’s name. Source: IMDB

Our Verdict: A solid action film that isn’t, unfortunately, the best in the series. The action is stunning but it is let down by plot elements and structure.

Lists of Five:

This week our Lists of Five: Five Great Movie Stunt Scenes. Inspired by the amazing stunt work in the Mission: Impossible movie, how could we not do this list?
Just a reminder, because we never like to just make things easy on ourselves, our lists are not necessarily top five lists, they are more or a less a list of film recommendations within the theme of the list.

The SNL sketch, “Jane, you ignorant slut.” was Jane Curtan and Dan Aykroyd. (I think)

  1. Thank you John, you are right I went back and looked the clip up on YouTube, it is Dan Aykroyd. That is still a very funny clip :-)
