Trailer: Four Lions

Came across this trailer for a new English comedy about terrorists. This made me laugh out loud in places and I thought I should share. Four Lions is directed by Christopher Morris and according to IMdB it’s plot is as follows:
‘Four Lions tells the story of a group of British jihadists who push their abstract dreams of glory to the breaking point. As the wheels fly off, and their competing ideologies clash, what emerges is an emotionally engaging (and entirely plausible) farce. In a storm of razor-sharp verbal jousting and large-scale set pieces, Four Lions is a comic tour de force; it shows that-while terrorism is about ideology-it can also be about idiots.’
It debut at Sundance early this year and opens in the UK in May. When does it get a release date here? Unknown at this time.
Does this mean Red Sonja is now officially dead?

If you listen to the Geek Actually Podcast you will know that for the last two weeks we have been discussing the casting confirmations and rumours of the new ‘Conan’ remake directed by Marcus Nispel. So far we have Jason Momoa (‘Stargate: Atlantis’) cast as Conan, Ron Perlman (‘Hellboy’) as his father (replacing the rumoured Mickey Rourke) and Stephen Lang (‘Avatar’) looks to be confirmed as Khalar Singh, the bad guy of the piece.
However, in a new piece of casting, Rose McGowan (‘Planet Terror’) has been added to the cast as a rumoured evil half-human/half-witch character. The reason that this is odd is she was cast to play the title character in the Robert Rodriguez produced remake of Robert E. Howard’s ‘Red Sonja’ (see the poster at the head of this post). Now she is cast in the ‘Conan’ remake, does this finally kill off the on again/off again production of ‘Red Sonja’?
Details of the character that she is playing in ‘Conan’ are sketchy at this time, I am hoping (I think hopelessly) that she isn’t playing the character mentioned above but instead is Red Sonja in some sort of crossover cameo to test run the character. I like the character of Red Sonja from the books and she deserves a better screen treatment than the awful 1985 Richard Fleischer film starring Brigitte Nielsen.
‘Conan’ started filming this month and is scheduled for release in 2011.

Okay, this came out a couple of days ago but with the Oscars and everything I was a little overwhelmed. When I am too late on this stuff, I usually just skip it as it has been well covered, but this is Iron Man 2 dammit! This trailer rocks and we will discuss it on Saturday’s Geek Actually Podcast.
That portable Iron Man suit at the end is just awesome.
Tron Legacy Official Teaser Now Online

Here it is at last, the first official trailer for Tron Legacy. Forget the Light Cycle test that they were passing off as the trailer, this is the real deal and I can’t wait to see this. As soon as I saw that shot of The Recognizer landing I was sold! Tron Legacy opens in December 2010 in Disney 3D.

Here is the second The Karate Kid Trailer and it is pretty much the same as the first, just a little longer. I just can’t get that interested in this film. Nothing about the trailers are telling me to get excited. We’ll discuss this trailer in the next Geek Actually Podcast episode (ep73).
New Trailer – A Nightmare on Elm Street

Here is the second, and in my opinion, much better trailer for the remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street. It may be too early to call but Platinum Dunes may have got one right. The trailer works for me so far and Jackie Earle Haley is a big draw card. I have high hopes that they won’t screw this one up. We’ll be discussing this trailer in the next episode of The Geek Actually Podcast (ep73).
