One Morning, I found in my subscription box a new film from a really good animator online, so i had a look and it blew me away it was so good. The animation was perfect, the light sabre fight was brilliant and the special effects were all done in photoshop and it still looked amazing.

Nicholas McVay is an Award Winning Director!

November 19, 2009

The Award Winning Nicholas McVayNicholas ‘The Little Geek’ McVay had his film ‘The Chicken Wing Stand’ selected to represent his school in the ‘Making Movies 2009: Sydney Regional Film Festival’. The screening was last night at the Leichardt Palace Cinema here in Sydney.

It was a big night and all the selected films were screened on the big screen. Nicholas was awarded a certificate and a trophy for his film. It was all very exciting and we will play the film on this weeks episode of Geek Actually, however our audio listeners won’t be able to see what our live viewers see.

So I am proud to now present ‘The Chicken Wing Stand (Festival Version)’. Make sure you check out Nicholas’ YouTube channel to see his other films.

Once again, The Little Geek found this on YouTube and I found it really funny. I don’t usually just post lots of YouTube videos but this tickled my funny bone, probably because I am currently working my way through The Orange Box. Enjoy.

The Chicken Wing Stand

May 20, 2009

Hi everyone, just to let you know that Nicholas (The Little Geek) is going to enter a short film competition later this year and he is working on an animated film called The Chicken Wing. He has just put up the first test on YouTube for you all to see. Yes it has some formatting issues and no background but you get the general idea. Let me tell you, I have seen the reshot footage in all of it’s widescreen glory and it looks great. Here is the first test.

iLife ‘09 rocks!!

February 20, 2009

A couple of weeks ago, me and my dad, The Big Geek, bought iLife ‘09 and it is really cool. I like iMovie ‘09, it is better than iMovie ‘08 because it felt to me that I couldn’t do much with iMovie ‘08. But iMovie ‘o9 is like Final Cut Express but easier to use. And my dad likes iPhoto ‘o9 a lot because of the face recognition. I really like it too.

Dad and I talk about iLife ‘09 in the latest episode of Geek Actually (episode 26), check it out for more detail.

Wall-E is Cool

September 8, 2008

Last weekend my family and I went to see Pixar’s new film, Wall-E and it was a fun film to watch. It isn’t as funny as the other Pixar films but as i said, it is still a great film and when it comes out (18th of September in Australia) go see it at the movies, it is really worth it.

Big Geek and I talk about Wall-E in episode 5 of the netcast.

You can watch the trailer here.

Star Wars : The Clone Wars Rocks!

September 8, 2008

A couple of days ago, my family and I went to see Star Wars: The Clone Wars and it was cool and a good beginning to a series (which starts in October on the Cartoon Network).

It was good and I really enjoyed it. My mum liked it too and my dad also liked. If you listen to the netcast, we talked about it a week ago.

If you like Star Wars stuff, go see it. You won’t be disappointed as it fills in the story between Episode 2 and 3.

The Lego Batman: The Video Game Trailer

August 28, 2008

As promised on the netcast, here is the trailer.

My dad pre-ordered the game so we will write review when we get it.

NOTE: Hi Big Geek here, if there is anyone from Traveller’s Tales reading this, we would love an advance copy to review (hint hint).
