Now, when Ridley Scott decides to do something, he really commits. Recently, Scott announced that he was going to make the ‘Alien’ prequel (or possibly back to back prequels) in 3D. This was odd enough, you don’t really think of Ridley Scott as jumping on the Fad wagon, however the story gets more unusual as New York Magazine’s Vulture now reports that he is in negotiations to form a partnership between his company, Scott Free Productions and the 3D company Symphony 3D. The new partnership is to be called Scott Three Productions (ha, clever).
Symphony 3D is the parent company to MasterImage 3D, one of the top manufacturers of 3D glasses and projection systems.
Does this mean that all of Scott’s future films will be heading towards 3D? If you have been keeping up, Scott is currently set to make the ‘Alien’ prequels, ‘Monopoly’ the movie, ‘The Forever War’, ‘Brave New World’, ‘The Kind One’ and many others as producer and director.
All I ask is, please Sir Ridley, please don’t go back and up convert ‘Blade Runner’ or ‘Alien’ or any of your other films, please.
Head over to Vulture for many more details.
