Film Review
‘The A-Team’ directed by Joe Carnahan. The film was written by Joe Carnahan, Brian Bloom and Skip Woods and is based on characters created by Frank Lupo and Stephen J. Cannell. The film stars Liam Neeson, Bradley Cooper, Sharlto Copley, Jessica Biel, Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson, Brian Bloom and Patrick Wilson.
A remake of the classic Stephen J. Cannell action series about a group of elite soldiers who are framed for a crime they didn’t commit and now fight as freedom fighters while trying to clear their names.
The movie version ups the ante and has them involved in a CIA sting operation that involves treasury plates that would allow the bad guys to print their own money. However the film does just become the ‘They are framed and escape to catch the bad dudes and clear their names’ trope and it is pretty much what you expect from there. Trailer http://trailers.apple.com/trailers/fox/theateam/
Our Verdict: Really not as bad as we expected. It is by no means an excellent piece of cinema but if you are willing to disengage your brain and go along for the ride, it is kind of fun. It is a lot funnier than expected with Sharlto Copley stealing the film whenever he is on screen.
This episode carries an explicit tag due to infrequent coarse language.
