Hosts: David McVay and Josh Philpott
The Geek Actually Podcast, your weekly dose of ‘the week in geek’. This week David McVay and Josh Philpott fly solo in this special pre-recorded show. Why pre-recorded? This week David, Josh and Shane are off to the pop culture expo known as Supanova (thanks to Lionel for the media passes). This week we keep the news to a minimum because it was E3 and we have a lot of information about what was on show. We then review the film ‘Get Him to the Greek’. There is no after show this week but keep an eye on the site over the next week as we bring you our special Supanova coverage. Your show links follow:
Normally we go out live on geekactually.com/live at 12pm Saturdays (AEST UTC +10)

Feature Review
‘Get Him To The Greek’ written and directed by Nicholas Stoller based on characters created by Jason Segel. The film stars Jonah Hill, Russell Brand, Rose Byrne, Sean ‘P. Diddy’ Combs, Elisabeth Moss and Colm Meaney.
This is sort of a pseudo sequel to Forgetting Sarah Marshall, a say pseudo sequel because really it is only about one of the characters from the first film which is Russell Brand’s whacked out rocker Aldus Snow. This film has Aldus, a drugged out burn out, being collected by the hapless record company intern Aaron played by Jonah Hill who has to deliver Aldus to a comeback concert at the Greek theatre in three days. The rest of the film is just a drug and alcohol fueled road movie. Watch the trailer here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ckQEFV4mwIo
Our Verdict: A very funny film that on occasion misses the mark but overall succeeds. Russell Brand is hysterical and Sean ‘P. Diddy’ Combs is a stand out, we didn’t know he had this in him. Like all Apatow productions it gets the balance between humour and heart just right. Highly recommended.
This episode carries an explicit tag due to infrequent coarse language.
