Straight from Comic-Con San Diego, here are The Avengers and Joss Whedon as (now officially) the director. The stars of ‘The Avengers’ are Robert Downey Jr. (Tony Stark/Iron Man), Scarlett Johansson (Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), Chris Evans (Steve Rogers/Captain America), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Mark Ruffalo (now officially Bruce Banner/The Hulk), Jeremy Renner (Clint Barton/Hawkeye), Clark Gregg (Agent Phil Coulson) and not mentioned in this video but listed on IMDB is Don Cheadle (James Rhodes/War Machine) and as a villain Tom Hiddleston (Loki).
I am so looking forward to this film for four reasons: 1) I am a massive geek and love the Marvel Comics universe and used to read The Avengers religiously. 2) This cast is to die for. Yes even with the replacing of Edward Norton (which I don’t think they should have done). 3) It is an amazing experiment, building a universe of movies like they have with the books and then bringing them all together into one film. and finally 4) Joss Whedon! ’nuff said.
Sit back and enjoy this introduction of the cast for ‘The Avengers’. I love Joss Whedon’s comments at the end.
