Hosts: David McVay & Josh Philpott
This is the official tech podcast of geekactually.com. The tech show by geeks for geeks and non-geeks. Accessible tech for everyone is the motto we live by. This week on Tech Actually we discuss the Australian Federal Election and how this affects the geeks, we have a webcamgate update, robots are given emotions and we talk about our experiences of pulling the iMac apart.
Now, if you are new to Geek Actually you are probably wondering why this episode of Tech Actually is numbered 97. No, we are not insane, Tech Actually and Film Actually (our movie podcast) used to be one show called The Geek Actually Podcast and this week we split them into two shows. We kept the numbering continuity across all three of our shows (this includes Geek Actually After Show). All the information on the re-structuring of the shows can be found here at geekactually.com.
Tech Actually is recorded live on Saturdays at 12pm (AEST UTC+10). Go to geekactually.com/live to watch it live.

It was time to go vote, some things to think about.
That’s right, the Federal Election is here and we can’t tell you how to vote but when it comes to technology, Labour is way out in front… surprisingly.

Plus, the Internet Filter is essentially dead so let’s take that off the table. Plus we have a thriving economy, low interest rates and believe it or not the boat people are not that big a threat.

Topic of the week
As you know, we didn’t have a show last week because our production machine, a 24″ Intel iMac called Grace had a mid heart attack and died. This week Josh and David got a chance to pull apart and rebuild the aluminum iMac. We have the machine back up and running and we thought we’d share some thoughts (and photos) with you over the inside of this sexy machine.
As always this episode carries an explicit tag due to some bad language.
