Hosts: David McVay, Josh Philpott & Celine Roberts (with Josh Spencer)
Welcome to the Film Actually podcast, your weekly dose of movie geek. Film Actually is the official movie podcast of geekactually.com.
This week David McVay and Josh Philpott are joined Celine Roberts for a review of the British black satire ‘Four Lions’. We also have a little film news and a new List of Five. Cartoonist Josh Spencer was sitting in as audience but he got on mic a few times too. Finally, to finish off the show, David gives a micro review of the new Australian film ‘Tomorrow When the War Began’.
*Update 14/10/2011 – Film Actually was a split off from the main Geek Actually show and originally maintained numbering continuity with that show. That logic no longer works as the shows have become two unique entities, so we have gone back and re-numbered the Film Actually shows to reflect their true episode number. This show is now officially episode 7 but when you listen to the show you will hear it referred to as episode 99, this is why. Sorry about any confusion or inconvenience.
Film Actually is recorded live every Saturday at approximately 1.15pm (AEST UTC +10) at geekactually.com/live

Feature Film Review
‘Four Lions’ directed by Christopher Morris and written by Jesse Armstrong, Sam Bain and Christopher Morris with additional material by Simon Blackwell. It stars Riz Ahmed, Arsher Ali, Nigel Lindsay, Kayvan Novak, Adeel Akhtar, Benedict Cumberbatch, Julia Davis, Craig Parkinson, Preeya Kalidas and Wasim Zakir.
Four Lions tells the story of a group of British jihadists who push their abstract dreams of glory to the breaking point. As the wheels fly off, and their competing ideologies clash, what emerges is an emotionally engaging (and entirely plausible) farce. In a storm of razor-sharp verbal jousting and large-scale set pieces, Four Lions is a comic tour de force; it shows that-while terrorism is about ideology-it can also be about idiots.. – source Sundance
Our Verdict: Highly recommended, but be warned along with the laughs it has a serious side as well. It will leave you thinking at the end.

David’s Bonus Micro Review
A few words about Stuart Beattie’s ‘Tomorrow When The War Began’ – An average to slightly above average film. Nice to see the Australian film industry trying something new. The film is let down by poor characterisation and mediocre acting.
