Hosts: David McVay & Josh Philpott
This week we review the new animated film “Rango”. We also take a look at a few entertainment news items including the new trailers for “Super 8”, “Kung Fu Panda 2” and Super. We also discuss the possible “Doom” remake and Arnold Schwarzenegger’s future plans. All this and a brand new Lists of Five: Five Great Animated Characters. So sit back, pop a Choc Top in your mouth and enjoy. Film Actually is the official movie podcast of geekactually.com.
*Update 31/07/2012 – Film Actually was a split off from the main Geek Actually show and originally maintained numbering continuity with that show. That logic no longer works as the shows have become two unique entities, so we have gone back and re-numbered the Film Actually shows to reflect their true episode number. This show is now officially episode 31 but when you listen to the show you will hear it referred to as episode 123, this is why. Sorry about any confusion or inconvenience.
Film Actually is recorded live every Saturday. Go to geekactually.com/live for the schedule and to watch it

Feature Film Review
‘Rango’ directed by Gore Verbinski and written by John Logan based on a story by John Logan, Gore Verbinski and James Ward Byrkit. It stars Johnny Depp, Isla Fisher, Abigail Breslin, Ned Beatty, Alfred Molina, Bill Nighy, Stephen Root, Harry Dean Stanton, Ray Winstone and Timothy Olyphant.
An ordinary domesticated chameleon accidentally gets lost in the desert and winds up in the town of Dirt, a lawless outpost in the Wild West. The chameleon takes on the name Rango and in a bid to save his own ass, invents a story about his heroic, badass past. The town of Dirt is so in desperate need of water and hope they buy his story and he becomes the sheriff and the town hero. The question then becomes, when bad guys come to town and times get tougher for the town of Dirt, can Rango become the hero that the town’s people believe him to be and save the town and himself?
Our Verdict: Brilliant animation, fun story and a great sense of humour make this a must watch. The film sets a new benchmark for CG animation.
