Trailer: J. J. Abrams’ Super 8

J. J. Abrams (‘Mission: Impossible 3’, ‘Star Trek’ and TV’s ‘Alias’ and ‘Lost’) loves secrecy and his latest film, ‘Super 8’, is no different. The film was shot is secret and the trailer was delivers in a locked case (or so the story goes). Now it is online and you can see it below.

So what do we know (or think we know)? According to /Film it is written and directed by J. J. Abrams and produced by Steven Spielberg. It is NOT a sequel to ‘Cloverfield’ and it will be released through Amblin NOT Dreamworks. It is set in 1979 and is an homage to Spielberg films from his 70’s/80’s  period like ‘Close Encounters of the Third Kind’ and ‘E.T.: The Extra Terrestrial’. Other than that, it is a bit of a mystery.

I have to say that I am really interested, this is my favourite period of Spielberg’s career and I really like Abrams as a director. I will be looking forward to finding out more about this. What are your thoughts? Let us know in the comments below.

‘Super 8’ is due in cinemas in 2011.
