Just keeping you all up to date, here is the latest episode of the Warner Bros. produced web series of “Mortal Kombat: Legacy”. If you want to know more about the series check out our earlier post here.
You still hanging in there? How are you enjoying this series? Comment blow.
A few weeks back the teaser trailer for “Conan The Barbarian” was released and it was fairly poorly received. The teaser really showed us nothing of the new film, that is all different now. The new full trailer for the re-boot has just been released and now we get a decent look at the film and it still doesn’t fill me full of glee. It, unfortunately, looks a little like “The Scorpion King” to me. You can watch the trailer below.
A quest that begins as a personal vendetta for the fierce Cimmerian warrior soon turns into an epic battle against hulking rivals, horrific monsters, and impossible odds, as Conan realizes he is the only hope of saving the great nations of Hyboria from an encroaching reign of supernatural evil.
“Conan The Barbarian” opens in August 2011.

It’s been a few weeks since it’s initial launch and stock has become easier to find again after completely selling out on day one so I felt it was time for someone to give an overall summation of Nintendo’s new handheld fun-box, the Nintendo 3DS.
The 3D concept is not new grounds to Nintendo. They played around with this idea when they released the Virtua-Boy which was a colossal failure for a number of reasons but the 3D effect is scarily similar. Essentially, it’s a mix of high tech gadgetry and optical illusion witchcraft. The system “overlays” a set of pixels on top of the other and your eyes focus to see both, giving you a slight cross-eyed effect but shows a pseudo depth of vision. Because of this, however, it is STRONGLY recommended that children aged 6 and under DO NOT play the console in it’s 3D mode but that’s like leaving someone in a room with a big red button that says “push me” and telling them not to push it. Also, there is a very small percentage of people whose eyes won’t adjust accordingly to the screen and won’t see the 3D effect. This semi-genius approach to 3D is partly done with software and that’s why the 3D scaler switch on the screen works well with some games and is kinda shoddy with others so there is a right way and a wrong way of programming the 3D graphics. So before we have a look at the launch games, let’s look at the hardware that comes in the box. Continue reading
Netbooks have been around for a while now and though some of the new designs may seem like a viable alternative to the current tablets on the market, poor saps like myself that spent good cash on one of the earlier models find ourselves pondering what to do with it now? The earliest of these devices, usually sporting either XP or some horrible Frankenstein version of Linux are a waste of space in our current technological hierarchy. The problem with them is once you put on some software, a little music and maybe a film or two, suddenly the computer begins to grind to a halt and whine constantly about having no room for updates or caching. So sadly most of these devices end up in storage, given to partners/spouses (who don’t want them either) or just thrown away. Continue reading
Just a quick reminder to the podcast listeners, as mentioned on last weeks shows, there are no shows this week. We are taking a weekend off because we worked through Easter.
Film Actually and Geek Actually will be back next week as normal.
Oh my god! We’ve discussed at length how much I enjoyed the first “Transformers” movie and how much I despised the second one but I can’t wait to see this one!
“Transformers: Dark of the Moon” just got this awesome new trailer and if this trailer is anything to go by, the film is huge robots hitting each other and causing mass destruction! I’m in! It looks great and I really hope we don’t get burned again like with part two, if you remember that trailered pretty well too.
“Transformers: Dark of the Moon” opens in July.
