New Trailer: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2

Finally we get a look at the final chapter in the Harry Potter series, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2”. At the time it was hard to review the first part to this chapter because it was only half a movie, now we will finally be able to put the two halves together and give Deathly Hallows a real review.

The trailer is epic and I can’t wait to see it. I loved the books and I have really enjoyed this series of movies, particularly the David Yates films “Order of the Phoenix”, “Half Blood Prince” and “Deathly Hallows”.

Check out the trailer below and let me know in the comments what you thought.

For the full experience, shoot over to Apple and grab the HD version.

“Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2” is out in July.

Trailer: Asylum’s “Almighty Thor” – WTF!

Asylum, that quality production house that produces crap like “Mega Piranha”, “Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus” and “Titanic II” just to name but a few has done it again by producing the most obvious knock off of the year, “Almighty Thor”!

That’s right, Kenneth Branagh’s spectacular Marvel comics adaptation of “Thor” starring Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Hopkins, Natalie Portman and Tom Hiddleston is now in cinemas so Asylum must want some of that money.

According to their website, the official plot of “Almighty Thor” is: When the demon god Loki destroys the fortress of Valhalla and steals the Hammer of Invincibility, only the young hero Thor can protect Earth from armageddon. Now I have the embedded trailer below but before you get too excited, this film has all the production values that we have come to expect from Asylum and Richard Grieco playing Loki! I know I’ll be watching it.

Look for “Almighty Thor” in May if you must. Continue reading

Red Band Trailer: The Change-Up

On the last episode of Film Actually (episode 129) we talked about this new Red Band trailer for the Jason Bateman/Ryan Reynolds comedy. We didn’t have time to play the trailer on the show and I promised that I would embed it here instead, so here it is.

The film doesn’t look brilliant and you have to ask yourself, “do we really need another body swap comedy?” But Bateman and Reynolds are always fun to watch and the trailer does have a few laugh out loud moments. “The Change-Up” comes out in August.

Reader Review: Enter the Void (2009)

Listener Chris Bowen wanted to share his experiences with the movie, “Enter the Void”. Directed by Gaspar Noé and written by Gaspar Noé (with the help of Lucile Hadzihalilovic). The film stars Nathaniel Brown, Paz de la Huerta, Cyril Roy, Olly Alexander, Masato Tanno and Ed Spear.

Chris Bowen Writes:

To say that Gaspar Noé has a controversial reputation as a film maker is a gross understatement. His first feature-length film, “I Stand Alone” (1998) dealt with issues of incest, violence and sexual abuse and was a down and dirty film featuring what could only be described as the most unlikeable anti-hero in modern filmmaking. His second effort, “Irreversible” (2002) polarised audiences globally, mostly due to the fact that during the course of the first thirty minutes he committed to film two of the most horrifically violent and graphic sequences in film history. That said, buried within both films were art house sensibilities peppered with a perverse beauty and a glimmer, however faint, of humanity. Think David Lynch on an acid bender and you’d be close to  Noé.

So it’s no surprise that when Noé annouced his third feature length outing “Enter the Void”, the cinematic world was fascinated, by and large, but held it’s collective breath in anticipation of what he might have come up with this time around. What lines will he cross this time? What will we be forced to endure? Continue reading
