Trailer: Melancholia

Those that know me, know that I am not a big fan of Lars Von Trier films. However, this trailer for his new ‘end of the world’ film “melancholia” has just surfaced and I am actually kind of interested.

The film looks like a sensitive portrait of how those final days might affect people. Take a look at the trailer and let me know what you think in the comments below.

I can’t find a release date for Australia on this one yet.

Updated Captain America Poster

Paramount Australia has just made this new one sheet available for the upcoming “Captain America: The First Avenger”. It is pretty much what was already out there except that the title of the film has replaced the word “Avenge”. I really like this poster and I hope it is setting the tone for the film. Click the image below for a high resolution version. “Captain America: The First Avenger” opens in July 2011.

What do you think of the poster? I think I want it on my wall. Let me know by commenting below.

New Clip from “Thor”

Our friends over at Paramount Australia have made a new clip from “Thor” available. We saw a part of this clip in the trailer. It is short, but it sets up the moment when Thor is discovered on Earth. Enjoy.

I am a comic book geek so of course I am looking forward to “Thor” but I think I am still a little more excited about the upcoming “Captain America: The First Avenger”.

Retro Review: Big Trouble in Little China (1986)

There was a time that I would have watched director John Carpenter direct the phone book and although he has had a less than stellar second half to his career I still enjoy his work.

“Big Trouble in Little China” was a box office bomb but it has built an amazing cult following over the years and so it should have, this film has it all. Humour, monsters, Kung Fu action and Chinese black magic all play a part in the film and it is all the better for it. Just when you think you have a handle on what kind of film you are watching they throw something more bizarre at you. It is a really fun adventure film that deserves to be re-watched by those that haven’t seen it in years and for those that have never seen it, you have a real treat in front of you. Continue reading

Trailer: The Governator

Okay, we talked about this stupid thing on Film Actually and now a trailer has been released. Oh my god this looks stupid. We also found out that a 3D theatrical release is now planned for this garbage. Here is the first trailer for the new animated TV series starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, “The Governator”.

What did you think? If you think this is at all watching, comment below.
