Chris Evans in Full Captain America Costume

This week seems to be the week of big reveals, earlier today I posted the first look at the new Spider-Man and now Entertainment Weekly has published this full shot of Chris Evans as Captain America from “Captain America: The First Avenger”. He looks pretty cool.

He looks a lot rougher and messed up than those earlier concept shots we posted, so it looks like we are getting a more realistic Captain than the comic books. See the Picture below. Continue reading

New Spider-Man Costume Revealed

Our friends over at Sony have made the first image of the new Spider-Man available and you can click the thumbnail to see a great big version. In the picture is Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man looking a little beaten up. This is from the new re-booted, as yet untitled, Spider-Man movie directed by Marc Webb and due for release in 2012.

Click the Thumbnail for a great big version of the picture.

The movie stars Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, Rhys Ifans as Dr. Curt Conners (AKA The Lizard), Martin Sheen as Uncle Ben, Sally Field as Aunt May and Denis Leary as George Stacy (Gwen’s father). There are a couple of interesting credits here as well, Julianne Nicholson and Campbell Scott as Mary and Richard Parker – does this mean Peter’s parents are alive in this one or will they be shown in flashback? Also of note, there is no listing for J. Jonah Jameson yet, will he be in this movie? Continue reading

Quoted by Fox News, How Cool!

As you know Fox News entertainment reporter Hollie McKay is a friend of ours here at Geek Actually and has appeared on our podcast twice in the past. If you didn’t know, you’ve got some catching up to do :-)

Well Hollie recently wrote an article for Fox News entitled, “Have Hollywood’s A-List Actresses Become Box-Office Busts?” where she talks about the lack of drawing power that the A-Lists starts seem to have today. She contacted me for some feedback and wow, I am quoted big time in her article. Just wanted to say thanks to Hollie and her readers for making little old me feel so important.

Check out the article by clicking the link above.

What are your opinions on this, do you agree with what I thought? Love to know. Comment below.

Game Review: Game Dev Story (iPhone)

When people talk about games on the iPhone, one category that has never worked for me is simulation games. The concept involves lots of information on screen at once and a heavy level of attention to detail. Even the iPhone 4’s Retina Display can’t replicate this well on a 3.5″ screen, so the alternative becomes to dumb it down. Even the best attempts at this seem to fail, the reason being that sim games are all about complicated gameplay. Regular fans of the genre are turned off due to a lack of challenge and new players can’t get sucked in due it’s simplicity. We play these games to build worlds, run countries and become corporate gods, without this feeling the game just doesn’t work.

“Game Dev Story” however, proves it can be done. Continue reading
