Film Actually Ep022 (114) – And Then I Washed My Hands

Hosts: David McVay, Josh Philpott & Celine Roberts

We are back for 2011 with more Film Actually, your weekly dose of movie geekdom. Film Actually is the official movie podcast of geekactually.com.

This week David McVay and Josh Philpott are joined by Celine Roberts for a review of one of the year’s finest films, “The King’s Speech”. We also have some Entertainment Buzz including the new trailer for John Carpenter’s return to cinema, “The Ward” and a brand new Lists of Five – Five Royal Films. So sit back, grab a snack and enjoy.

*Update 31/07/2012 – Film Actually was a split off from the main Geek Actually show and originally maintained numbering continuity with that show. That logic no longer works as the shows have become two unique entities, so we have gone back and re-numbered the Film Actually shows to reflect their true episode number. This show is now officially episode 22 but when you listen to the show you will hear it referred to as episode 114, this is why. Sorry about any confusion or inconvenience.

Film Actually is recorded live every Saturday. Go to geekactually.com/live for the schedule and to watch it

For Love Of The Game Episode 4 – Games of the Decade (The Greats)

So we say goodbye to the year 2010 and in the last ten years we’ve had Xbox and PS2 fight it out over supremacy, Sega ducking out of the race with Dreamcast, Nintendo being flat last to rising to the top with Wii, PSP coming and basically going, the eminent rise of emulation, the next gen war between PS3 and 360 and many a brilliant game to distract us from our normal lives.

So which ones have made the bigger impact upon us? Here’s my list of the greats. Continue reading

Lipton Brisk Machete Commercial – Brilliant!

Sometimes I feel very isolated down here in the land of Oz, we sometimes miss the really clever stuff. Lipton has a brand of Ice Tea in the US called Brisk, which is not available here in Australia. They created this brilliant claymation commercial for their product over the Christmas break that summarises the film “Machete” in one minute and even has Danny Trejo voicing it… oh, I am not doing this justice, just watch and enjoy, it is short and funny.

Isn’t that just killer! Now you don’t have to see the film, it sums it up perfectly and makes me really thirsty for an Ice Tea, funny that :-)

Just in case you haven’t had enough, here are a couple of behind the scenes videos. Continue reading

Trailer: No Stings Attached (Red Band)

Okay before my fellow geeks jump on this and cry that this is just another chick flick and what the hell am I doing posting this trailer for it on this site, I don’t mind the occasional chick flick – so there! I love film period. I watch all kinds of films from the scary bad to downright masterpiece. I get just as much from watching a drama as I do a comedy as I do watching a blockbuster action extravaganza. So deal with it. Maybe I am just an old married man who likes a little romance in his life? Anyway..

Now that that is out of the way, here is the new red band trailer for “No Stings Attached” starring Ashton Kutcher and personal favourite Natalie Portman. I like this trailer because, like “Going the Distance” starring Drew Barrymore and Justin Long, it isn’t afraid to be a little raunchier than your average chick flick. It is almost like the genre is growing up. Also any chance to see Natalie Portman in her underwear is a good thing, I did say she was a personal favourite. Continue reading
