David Visits Brad on ‘Right This Instant’
Just a quick note to let you know that earlier this week I was the guest on Brad Anderson’s new podcast, ‘Right This Instant’. Brad was the co-founder and former host (and now a re-occurring guest) of The Movie Fan Cast. His new podcast is a film discussion show where he picks a film from ‘Netflix’s Watch Instantly’ and then Brad and his guest go deep into review of the film. The hope is that he will uncover hidden gems or, alternatively, save you a couple of hours of your life.
This week he invited me to come on and take a look at the Australian documentary ‘Not Quite Hollywood’. Now, if you are a long term listener to my show, you will know that I really like this film and Brad’s show gave me another opportunity to really discuss why. I had a lot of fun and the show is really worth checking out. The episode was released today.
So shoot over to the Movie Fan House at moviefanhouse.com to find out more about this podcast and their flagship show, ‘The Movie Fan Cast’ hosted by Charlie and Jesse. While you’re there, you can also find information on their new podcast about ‘The Walking Dead’, the comic and the AMC series that is starting in October. I plan to have a guest spot on that show too.

Geek Actually After Show Ep098 – Cronenberg
Podcast: Play in new window | Download
Hosted by: David McVay, Josh Philpott, Calum Wilson Austin & Shane Gregory
Welcome to the Geek Actually After Show. This un-stuctured and un-planned podcast is what what you get after we finish recording the two main shows Tech Actually and Film Actually. We basically just leave the mics on and record whatever we feel like talking about. This show gives us a chance to talk about anything that didn’t fit into the format of the main shows.
This week Calum challenges Josh’s review of David Cronenberg’s ‘Videodrome’. This opens us up to a deep analysis of ‘Videodrome’ and the work of director David Cronenberg. I don’t think we convinced Calum but it was a great discussion. We also discuss the science of shockwaves in Star Trek and Star Wars plus Facebook sues Teachbook.
Some Links of things we discussed: Continue reading

New Release Schedule for the Podcasts
Just a quick one to let you all know about the new release schedule for the podcasts. We have been releasing the audio podcasts on Sunday (Film Actually), Monday (Tech Actually) and Wednesday (Geek Actually After Show).
I thought it was a little unfair to punish the tech listeners by delaying the show by an extra day so I am now releasing both Film and Tech on Sunday. The Geek Actually After Show is going to be push forward by one day as well and will be released on Tuesdays.
So, the new Schedule (just to make it really clear) is as follows:
Saturday – Live Recording
Sunday – Tech Actually & Film Actually (audio version) are released.
Sunday – The video replays of all the shows are posted.
Tuesday – Geek Actually After Show (audio version) is released.

Because the show is live, you get it here with all the mistakes intact. Check the individual audio show posts for the show notes. This week you can watch as David and Josh meltdown as we discuss touchable 3D TV in the tech show, funny stuff. Enjoy the shows. Continue reading
