Trailer: Gulliver’s Travels

Boy, Emily Blunt couldn’t do ‘Iron Man 2’ because Fox enforced a contract option for her to make this Jack Black vehicle (‘Gulliver’s Travels’) instead, was Fox punishing her? You decide.

Watch it in Hi Def at Apple (if you must).

Little Geek’s Birthday and Final Cut Express

Just a quick note to share a couple of photos of Nicholas ‘The Little Geek’ McVay’s birthday and again say thanks to all those that helped get his big present, a copy of Final Cut Express 4. We felt that the program would really help with his filmmaking but we couldn’t afford it by ourselves. The call went out and so many of you helped out. As promised we put all those that helped on the card.

I’ll just take a moment to thank them again: Thanks go out to Mirren, Sarah, Celine, Ben, Josh, Shane, Lisa, Hellen, Tony, Deakin & Katrina. We also got a lovely donation from Sheila after we had given it to him, but we will give him the money to buy something special for himself (probably Lego).

Here are a couple of photos of the night (click a shot for a bigger shot):

First Captain America Concept Art Leaked – Now Thor Art Leaked!

What a day of bountiful goodness it has been today. First AICN leaked those fantastic, apparently real, concept shots of Captain America’s costume and now Collider has posted these fantastic images of the Thor costume.

We had that official photo released a month ago of Chris Hemsworth as Thor but it was obscure and didn’t show the whole body. These concept shots, if real, give us the rest of the picture. Still no helmet but the hammer Mjolner looks great. Continue reading

Captain America’s Costume Revealed

AICN has posted up some concept renders of Chris Evans (‘Fantastic Four’, ‘The Losers’) as Captain America in his costume that are apparently confirmed as real.

I have been very concerned about Cap’s costume because, as I have said on the show a few times, it is really easy to just get really campy. Captain America, the character, walks a very fine line between cheese and acceptable and this line becomes even thinner when put into a realistic film world. Don’t believe me? Continue reading

Geekgasm: Minority Report Interface in Real Life!

As a geek, I can’t help but get a little misty eyed when I see a demonstration like this. It is the future we all dreamed of, interacting with our computers rather than just using them.

John Underkoffler, Steven Spielberg’s science advisor on ‘Minority Report’, gave a demonstration of the g-speak 3D user interface at TED 2010 back in February. The video is now online at ted.com and I have embedded it below. What is the g-speak 3D interface? Well, in a nutshell it is the interface that Tom Cruise uses in the film ‘Minority Report’ made real, little black gloves and all! Continue reading

New Details on the Logan’s Run Remake

We reported a few days ago that Carl Erik Rinsch is being courted to remake ‘Logan’s Run’, now MTV had a chance to sit down with Über-Producer Joel Silver (‘Die Hard’, ‘Lethal Weapon’, ‘The Matrix’) who was promoting the new film Splice this week. Mr. Silver said that he wanted to conceive and shoot ‘Logan’s Run’ in 3D using 3D cameras. Here is the MTV quote: Continue reading
