‘Chuck’ Renewed!!!!

All geeks rejoice, NBC isn’t playing the same game as last year and has renewed ‘Chuck’ without debate. This year has been an interesting season and I look forward to the continuing adventures of Chuck, Sarah and Casey. If you haven’t seen ‘Chuck’ yet, what are you waiting for? It is geekdom bottled and served back to us as a delicious cocktail of comedy, action and dare I say it, romance. Go to http://www.nbc.com/chuck for more information.

For those that have not partaken of the weekly joy that is ‘Chuck’ here is official synopsis from their website:

No More Mr. Nice Spy. Our favorite secret agent is back in the one-hour action-comedy series. Chuck Bartowski (Zachary Levi, “Less Than Perfect”) returns as a regular guy, working at a Buy More electronics store, who becomes the government’s most vital secret agent.

Chuck is transformed into the Intersect 2.0 after another data download into his brain. This time around, he not only knows government secrets, but he also is well equipped with deadly fight skills. Chuck has the potential to become a real agent, but he has one problem — his emotions. Now he faces the battle of keeping his emotions in check in order to protect himself and the people around him.

The ever stoic Colonel John Casey (Adam Baldwin, “My Bodyguard,” “Firefly”) returns with partner Sarah Walker (Yvonne Strahovski, “Gone”), one of the CIA’s top agents and Chuck’s dream girl. As Chuck assumes his new role as the Intersect 2.0, Casey and Sarah need to protect him but also help him become the agent he is destined to be.

Chuck is the brain child of Josh Schwartz (The O.C.) and Chris Fedak and is produced my McG (but we won’t hold that against it).

Trailer: Philip K. Dick’s ‘The Adjustment Bureau’

Philip K. Dick’s novels and stories are no stranger when it comes to being adapted to film.

Starting with ‘Blade Runner’ (1982 and based on the novel ‘Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?’) and moving on to ‘Total Recall’ (1990 and based on the short story ‘We Can Remember It For You Wholesale’), ‘Confessions d’un Barjo’ (1992 and based on the novel of the same name), ‘Drug-Taking and the Arts’ (1994 and based on the novel ‘A Scanner Darkly’), ‘Screamers’ (1995 and based on the short story ‘Second Variety’), ‘Impostor’ (2001 and based on the short story ‘The Impostor’), ‘Minority Report’ (2002 and based on the short story of the same name), ‘Paycheck’ (2002 and based the short story of the same name), ‘A Scanner Darkly’ (2006 and based again on the novel ‘A Scanner Darkly’), ‘Next’ (2007 and based on the novel story ‘The Golden Man’) and this year we have two new adaptations, ‘Radio Free Albemuth’ (2010 based on the novel of the same name) and ‘The Adjustment Bureau’ (2010 and based on the short story ‘Adjustment Team’).

That long winded introduction was a way of announcing the new trailer for the Philip K. Dick based film, ‘The Adjustment Bureau’. Continue reading

Move Over Mel Brooks, Now We Have Nazis in Space!

Well, I can’t say I saw this one coming. In the Mel Brooks film History of the World Part 1 (no, there was never a part 2, that was also a joke) there was a small skit called Jews in Space and for me one of the films funniest moments.

All I can say is move over Mr. Brooks, a new independent film is in production called Iron Sky and it is coming to invade your airspace. It is a comedy sci-fi about Nazis on the moon who are now ready to invade the earth for total domination of the world. Still with me?

Here is the official synopsis of the film: Continue reading

Shia LaBeouf apologises for his past films…again!

I think there becomes a time when you can be too much of an apologist and Shia LaBeouf may have just reached that time.

On the last episode of The Geek Actually Podcast Josh, Nathan and I discussed Shia’s comments on the upcoming Transformers 3 film, where Shia basically said he knows that part 2 wasn’t very good and he promises that part 3 will be much better. You can read more about this apology and promise over at The Huffington Post. In a nutshell he said “When I saw the second movie, I wasn’t impressed with what we did, there were some really wild stunts in it, but the heart was gone.” He went on to say, “We got lost. We tried to get bigger. It’s what happens to sequels. It’s like, how do you top the first one? You’ve got to go bigger.” And there was more, “Mike went so big that it became too big, and I think you lost the anchor of the movie. … You lost a bit of the relationships. Unless you have those relationships, then the movie doesn’t matter. Then it’s just a bunch of robots fighting each other.” Continue reading
