Platforms is a gamers podcast by gamers. The podcast is recorded live on Ustream with chat interaction so come and join the fun as your host candidly discuss the latest in the gaming world. The podcast is uncensored, explicit, honest and very non ‘PC’. We start this week with the trailer for ‘The Force Unleashed II’. Dave Kozicki and Josh Philpott decide to usher in the new year a little early and toast every news story with a shot of Christmas cheer. Needless to say that they end the show a little hammered. Oh yeah, and Dave got a new PS3. Have a Very Happy New Year Everyone!

News This Week: THQ has a bunch of delays, The new cinematic trailer for ‘Mass Effect 2’, ‘Serious Sam 3’ announced, the new trailer for the ‘Medal of Honor’ reboot and a mystery image emerges that re-ignites ‘Duke Nuke’em’ rumours.

Dave Kozicki runs down the VGA’s (Video Game Awards) and then Josh and Dave run down the top 5 games of the year and the top 5 disappointments.

Geek Actually Episode 66 – Out With The Old

New Geek Actually Cover ArtHosts: David McVay, Josh Philpott and Dave Kozicki

The Geek Actually Podcast is recorded live on Ustream with chat interaction.

This week the Geek Actually team is actually on holiday so David, Josh and Dave decide to make up some news that has no basis in anything factual. After that they have a discussion about their favourite holiday movies which include ‘Miracle on 34th Street’, ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’ and just for something a little diffeent, ‘Marked for Death’ starring Steven Seagal!

On a serious note, we do want to acknowledge the passing of Brittany Murphy who died of a sudden heart attack at the age of 32. RIP Brittany you will be missed.

A shout out to our friends at The Reel Junkies Podcast at weekendronin.com and The Movie Fan House Podcast at moviefanhouse.com for all of their support this year.

Fake News: (That we just made up) Microsoft buys Apple and releases Windows OSX and Michael Bay to direct ‘Snakes and Ladders’ starring Nicolas Cage, amongst other nonsense.

We wish everyone a very happy holidays and we will see you in two weeks.

The Karate Kid Remake – Why?

Well, here is the first trailer for ‘The Karate Kid’ remake. Although better than expected, the question is still, why? Did we really need this remake? Also, one last thing, why is it called ‘The Karate Kid” when is is obviously learning Kung Fu. Anyway, enjoy the trailer and leave your comments below.

‘The Karate Kid” is directed by Harald Zwart. It stars Jaden Smith, Jackie Chan and Taraji P. Henson. It opens June 2010.

Santa Down – Nicholas McVay’s Latest Opus

Here is a little Christmas cheer from Nicholas ‘The Little Geek’ McVay. Enjoy.

New Red Band Trailer for Kick-Ass Kicks Ass!

Just came across this this absolutely wicked red band trailer for the film ‘Kick-Ass’, this one focuses on Hit-Girl and is not for the kids. I’ll even forgive the casting of Nic Cage for the bad assness of this trailer.

‘Kick-Ass’ is directed by Matthew Vaughn and written by Jane Goldman, based on the comic book series by Mark Millar. It stars Nicolas Cage, Mark Strong, Chloe Moretz, Aaron Johnson and Christopher Mintz-Plasse. It is released April 2010.

Robin Hood – Ridley Scott’s new film revealed

Here it is, the international trailer (the original American trailer sucked big time) for Ridley Scott’s new epic, ‘Robin Hood’ starring Russell Crowe. When I saw the original trailer I was hugely disappointed but this went a long way to fix my fears for this film. Now I actually might go see it.

‘Robin Hood’ is directed by Ridley Scott and is written by Brian Helgeland. It stars Russell Crowe, Mark Strong, Matthew Macfadyen, Cate Blanchett, William Hurt, Danny Huston and Max von Sydow. It opens 13 May 2010.
