Slow 3G on the iPhone – Interesting

Jacob sent this through yesterday and I also read something similar on news.com.au that same morning.

‘Slow’ iPhone 3G glitch blamed on secrecy

This is a very interesting story and very telling of Apple’s history of secrecy. I am not going to analyse this now as I think it needs a good in depth look at on the podcast. Jacob and I will discuss this in episode 3 on the 19th of August (or next Tuesday).

Wanted – Fun Nonsense

Saw Wanted last week. It is nonsense from the first frame until the last, but what fun nonsense. Listen to a full review in the podcast (Episode 2 – Don’t Take Our Popcorn).

In a nutshell, I loved this film. It was a loud cartoon of an action movie that is full of CG and things that go boom. If you are looking for the secret to life or wanting to improve you spirit and body, this is not for you. Grab the popcorn, a coke and an ice cream sit back and just go for a ride.

Geek Actually Episode 2 – Don’t Take Our Popcorn

The \"...Geek, Actually\" PodcastIn this episode I am joined in the studio by, writer/actress/creative coach/ex- actor’s agent, Mirren Lee. She shares her love of celebrity gossip and television with us. We also discuss the move by a British cinema chain to ban popcorn!

I review the films “Wanted”, “X-Files: I Want to Believe” and “Pineapple Express”. I also discuss the rise of Apple hackers.

Little Geek and I discuss “The Spiderwick Chronicals” and “The Princess Bride”. I also give a review of the new DVD release of “I know Who Killed Me” – Major spoiler alert, Mirren gives the end away so beware (this film is so bad, you are not really missing anything).

Listen or Download it here or subscribe to it on iTunes.

This episode contains some infrequent bad language.

Okay, this week is a do over!

Okay, you may have noticed that there was no podcast this week. I do apologise, but we seem to have had an impromtu week off. I have had a cold and Little Geek has been sick for two weeks now and I felt that I needed to focus my attentions on this situation. Four doctor’s appointments (3 with the GP and 1 with his oncologist), two blood tests, a chest x-ray and two rounds of anti-biotics later and we still have no idea why he has such a bad cough!

Anyway, everything is hopefully on track for the podcast this week. Look for it on Tuesday and some fresh blog posts are on the way.

iPhone 3G Apps Rock

Just a quick post to announce my complete and utter love of the iTunes apps store.
I’m actually writing this post directly from the iPhone using a WordPress app. Okay, it is not as fast as writing it on my Mac, but it is way cooler!
I’ve downloaded about 25 or so apps and haven’t had any of the major crashing problems that have been reported about. Some of my favourite apps so far have been PicVault, Platnium Solitaire, Bejewelled, Lanyrinth, WordPress and Remote. If you have an iPhone or an iPod Touch you MUST get the 2.0 software and try the iTunes Apps store.

Change of release date for the podcast

Hi, just a quick note to let you know that the podcast is changing its release date. I have had a dreadful cold so I wasn’t up to recording on Friday. This got me thinking and I have decided that the podcast will now come out on Tuesdays. This makes Monday the recording day which works so much better for everyone.

This also allows me to get to the new release movies over the weekend so I can review them fresh.

This Tuesday’s (5th August 2008) show will have reviews for the new X-Files Movie and Wanted.

Look for the podcast on Tuesday here, on Podbean or on iTunes.
