Geek Actually forums now open and major update to Bad List

Hi,

Just a quick note to say that the forum is now open, it will have some growing pains I’m sure, but lets just give it a try and see how we go.

I have also updated The Gloriously Wonderful Bad List, check it out, it is kinda fun.

Clash of the Titans – Mission Statement

I just came across this site http://travisbeacham.blogspot.com/2006/09/clash-of-titans-mission-statement.html were he discusses his views on the new Clash of the Titans remake.

Here is an exerpt:

So there’s this quote that was I guess in Variety when the Clash of the Titans remake was announced. And it’s haunted me a little bit. Apparently, it was me who said it and maybe I did but I don’t remember why I would. It’s no big deal. Just four words. But these four words manage to pop up in every single blurb on the project on the whole blessed intarwub. You see, the original article said the remake would be “darker and more realistic…”

Darker? Yes. Most certainly. Unequivocally and consummately, yes. Dark as the Plutonian depths of Hades, my friends.

More realistic? Well… What exactly do you consider “realistic?”

The Hulk’s CGI Finally Gets Upgraded!

Found this article and thought it was interesting. Here is the article as written:

I ran across a new TV spot today and noticed some freshly upgraded CGI. Not that this wasn’t expected, but there are some enormous differences between now and two months ago. Care to take a look?

Dr. Horrible is Coming!

Okay, a friend has just sent this to me and I had to share. I am a huge fan of Joss Whedon and had never heard of this.

Apparently during the writer’s strike, Joss Whedon and his “friends” have created an online event starting on July 15th, 2008. I have no idea what it is all about, but if you are interested, go to the site www.drhorrible.com and watch the trailer and read “The Master Plan”. I will be watching with great interest on the 15th!

“Kung Fu Panda” Will Blind You With Its Awesomeness!!!

Awesome!!!Been so caught up with iPhone releases the movies had gone to the backseat! No more.

Went to see Kung Fu Panda a few days ago with my son, The 9 Year Old Geek, and my lovely wife. What a film!

The first thing that will strike you is the CG. Perfect animation from start to finish. As far as the animation and computer work is concerned, it is this geeks opinion that it out does anything that Pixar has put on screen yet.

The second thing that will get you is that the story and voice performances are great and a perfect match for the wonderful CG work. This is a great film. We all had such a wonderful time that you just get swept up with the film.

The voice talent is uniformly good, starting with Jack Black who brings a wonderful innocence to Po the Panda. Dustin Hoffman, Angelina Jolie, Seth Rogan, Jackie Chan and Ian McShane all put in wonderful performances in a perfectly balanced comedy action film that will appeal to all ages.

Have I told you how much I liked this film yet :-)

The motto of Geek Actually is to bring back the enjoyment of films, well this one does it in spades! Go see it, you will not be disappointed.
