Geek Movie Club Ep01 – Fifty Shades of Abrams

GMC-ep01-coverOn this special first episode we discuss housewife porn, take a trip through time with Richard’s Adventures in Time and Space, kind of look at the week’s entertainment news, get an update on the Fall season of television, hear Woody Allen rap and wrap up with a Star Wars quiz. So much entertainment, it took 58 minutes to contain it.

David McVay, Richard Gray and David Longo host this mass of news, reviews and gossip. If you have feedback for the show shoot an email to feedback@geekmovieclub.com or drop us a voice mail on Skype (user ID: geekactually), we would love to hear from you.

Behind the Panels One-Shot – The Larime Taylor Interview

Behind-the-Panels-One-Shot-Master-Larime-Taylor-1440x1440This week, Richard and David had the opportunity to chat with California-based writer/artist Larime Taylor, creator of the upcoming ongoing comic series, A Voice in the Dark. The thriller is mixed with a hefty dose of inky black comedy, described by Terry Moore as “Strangers in Paradise meets Dexter“.  Already a Kickstarter success, the new series offers a chance to explore the strange town of Cutter’s Circle, with a strong female lead – who also happens to be someone trying very hard not to kill again.

What casual readers may not know about Larime is that he was born with Arthrogryposis, a condition that inhibited the development of his limbs in utero and left him with limited use of his arms and legs. Writing, illustrating and toning the comics entirely with his mouth and a Wacom tablet, Larime talks to us about the creative process, pitching the comic to the publishers and what we can expect in the near future.

The first issue of A Voice in the Dark is released on 20 November 2013 from Top Cow/Image Comics. You can find Larime online at larimetaylor.com or on Twitter @xlarimex.

We need to thank Larime for his time, and we hope to get him back on the show in the near future for another chat.

The Rest…

Behind the Panels Issue 73 – S.H.I.E.L.D.

Behind-the-Panels-iss73-CoverIn this issue, AMC announces a Walking Dead spin-off. Oh, good: a series that doesn’t feel the need to follow the comic book. Warner has also announced that DC Entertainment will be the backbone of their release calendar. We guess that makes Ben Affleck the hairpiece. THEN Joss Whedon rewrites parts of Thor: The Dark World. We’re guessing Coulson dies again. All this, PLUS our Kick-ass Pick of the Week, S.H.I.E.L.D. by Jonathan Hickman and Dustin Weaver.

On our next Issue: Winter City with special guests, writers Patrick and Carl Purcell.

Hosted by Richard Gray, David McVay and Dave Longo.
