Feature Film Review

‘The Dark Knight Rises’ directed by Christopher Nolan. It is written by Jonathan Nolan & Christopher Nolan and is based on a story by Christopher Nolan & David S. Goyer in turn based on the DC Comics character created by Bob Kane. It stars Christian Bale, Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard, Matthew Modine, Ben Mendelsohn, Burn Gorman and Nestor Carbonell.

Eight years on, a new terrorist leader, Bane, overwhelms Gotham’s finest, and the Dark Knight resurfaces to protect a city that has branded him an enemy. Source: IMDB

Our Verdict: A fitting and very entertaining conclusion to Christopher Nolan’s trilogy. The film does have issues though and really requires the first two films to make sense. For fans of the series, a must see. For the first timers, go watch Batman Begins.

SPOILER ZONE: 42:40 to 56:25 – Skip this section if you don’t want spoilers.

Just a reminder, because we never like to just make things easy on ourselves, our lists are not necessarily top five lists, they are more or a less a list of film recommendations within the theme of the list.

Man of Steel Teaser Poster Revealed

A new teaser poster for Zack Snyder’s “Man of Steel” was revealed at Comic-Con. Not giving much away except that the yellow seems to be gone from the “S” and, along with Spider-Man’s new costume, texture seems to be really in this year!

Although it is a moody and striking image, it just isn’t my Superman.

“Man of Steel” comes to cinemas in June 2013.

Thomas Jayne is The Punisher Again in New Fan Film

After three feature films I was convinced that The Punisher was just not doable on film. I was wrong. At this years Comic-Con Thomas Jayne (reprising his performance as Frank Castle), Ron Perlman (Hellboy 1 & 2) and director Phil Joanou (State of Grace, Final Analysis) presented, for the fans, their little fan film called Dirty Laundry. Now this is how you make a Punisher film.

I want this team to be given a budget and let loose to make a new The Punisher film. I would pay to see that.

NEW: Expendables 2 Poster Puts The Gang Back Together

Okay, so we all know that “The Expendables 2” will be junk, but I’m hoping for fun junk. This new poster for the film puts all the principle players on display at their macho best. Don’t know about you but I’m kind of looking forward to it.

“Expendables 2” opens across Australia on August 30th.
