The Tunnel team wins Movie Extra Webfest 2.0 with Event Zero

Just want to shout out a huge congratulations to the winner of Movie Extra Webfest 2.0.

“Event Zero”, written and produced by Enzo Tedeschi and Julian Harvey and directed by Carlo Ledesma has won the competition and considering this is the team that brought us the terrific Australian thriller “The Tunnel”, that we very favourably reviewed on Film Actually a few months ago, I couldn’t be happier. I look forward to great things from this team and can’t wait to see “Event Zero”.

From the press release:

With the support of Screen Australia, the winners will receive a $100,000 production budget, providing an incredible opportunity to further develop their creative idea. The team behind Event Zero will now produce a seven part webseries forMOVIE EXTRA, with production of the series to commence in the first half of 2012.Event Zero will premiere on the Movie Network Channels YouTube channel www.youtube.com/mnctv. TRAILER: The Dictator

Our good friends over at Paramount Pictures Australia have made the trailer for Sacha Baron Cohen’s new film “The Dictator”, directed by Larry Charles, available to us. This time ’round Sacha Baron Cohen plays a ruthless Middle Eastern dictator, along the lines of Muammar Gaddafi, who’s sent to America in exile and must live among the infidels.

I really loved “Borat” but was wholly uninspired to see “Bruno”. This trailer kind of falls into the latter category, the humour is a little Adam Sandlerish and it failed to really generate to many laughs from me. I do think that Sacha Baron Cohen is talented and I hope I am wrong about this as the plot shows promise.

We’ll be able to see “The Dictator” in May 2012.

CLIP: Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol

Our friends over at Paramount Pictures Australia have made a new clip available for the new “Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol” which is opening today across Australia. It is a really fun film and should really be seen in IMAX just for the Dubai sequence alone. What is the clip? All I’m going to say is Girl Fight! It is pretty cool stuff.

TRAILER: Men In Black 3

“Men in Black 3” sees the return of, well, the men in black. Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones are back for a third spin on this franchise however because the plot revolves around time travel Tommy Lee Jones looks like he is replaced with a younger version of himself for a large portion of the movie. The younger K is played by Josh Brolin looking very much like a young Tommy Lee Jones. This is getting complicated!

Check out the trailer below, Sony promises that it is better than the second film in the series which was a let down after the really fun first film.

“Men in Black 3” will on the 24 May 2012 in Australia.

Sony has released the first official teaser poster for “The Amazing Spider-Man” and it is a striking image indeed. The poster promises that the film will tell The Untold Story… not sure what that means exactly but the poster sure is pretty. I still think it is a little too soon to re-boot this franchise but what the hell do I know?! Check out the poster below.

“The Amazing Spider-Man” is directed by Marc Webb and stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Denis Leary, Campbell Scott, Irrfan Khan, Martin Sheen and Sally Field.
