NEW TRAILER: Red Tails

Lucasfilm has released a third trailer for their upcoming WWII action drama Red Tails and it is awesome. I am really looking forward to this film. They also released this great new poster for the film that really amps up the action. Watch the trailer below.

The thrilling true story of the Tuskegee Airmen buzzes to the big screen in this epic war adventure from executive producer George Lucas and first-time feature director Anthony Hemingway. In the fire and chaos of World War II, the U.S. military recruits a fearless group of African-American fighter pilots to help reclaim the skies over Europe. Discriminated against both as citizens and as soldiers, the Tuskegee Airmen take flight in planes distinguished by distinctive red tails, and fight to defeat the tyranny of the Axis powers. As a result of their bravery, the pilots emerge as true heroes, and prove that all men are truly created equal. Terrence Howard, Cuba Gooding Jr., and Bryan Cranston star. (source: Jason Buchanan)

Red Tails is directed by Anthony Hemingway and opens in January in the US.

TRAILER: Snow White and the Huntsman

Universal has debuted the first trailer for Snow White and the Huntsman directed by Rupert Sanders and I just have to say I wasn’t it expecting it to look this good. It is still early and the film may or may not be great but this trailer is awesome. I do suggest that you click the link below and watch it in HD over at Apple, the visuals are worth the download.

Here are some of the recently released character posters:

Amanda Seyfried Cast in Lovelace – Is Hollywood Ready for Two Linda Lovelace Films?

Amanda Seyfried Cast As Pornstar Linda Lovelace

Lovelace Promo PosterOkay those that have followed this site for awhile know that I am always interested in behind the scenes films about the pornographic industry as there are so many interesting and sordid tales to tell. Probably none more sordid than the Linda Lovelace story. Lovelace, whose real name was Linda Susan Boreman, starred in Deep Throat, arguably one of the most famous and infamous porn films ever made. The film was one of the very first porn films to have (well, as much as it could) a plot, character development and a reasonable production quality. When it was released it was banned in some countries and became the subject of a series of obscenity trials in the US, however it went on to gross millions of dollars at the box office and later even more on home video. It is considered one of the first mainstream porn films.

The story gets gritty when it was revealed, by Linda Lovelace, that she was forced take drugs and make the film by her husband, Chuck Traynor, sometimes at gunpoint. Linda Lovelace turned her back on porn, denounced the film and became an anti-porn activist until she died in a car accident in 2002. This is great drama and a film about her life just has to be made, but this is not for the weak hearted or modest actor. This is a film that needs to get gritty and can’t shy away from the nudity or raw aspects of its source material if it wants to get it right. Continue reading

Special IMAX Preview of Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol Footage

Our friends over at Paramount Pictures Australia invited Geek Actually to take a look at some IMAX footage from the upcoming film “Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol” and let me tell you it was very impressive indeed.

We saw two completed scenes in floor to ceiling IMAX and it took my breath away. Director Brad Bird (“The Incredibles” & “The Iron Giant”), who is making his live action debut, delivers pulse pounding action that is directed with such assurance that you would think he was a veteran action film director.

The first scene we saw was the one you might be familiar with if you have seen the trailers and it is set high up on the very tall Burj Khalifa building in Dubai. It moves along at a swift pace and revolves around Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) needing to get into the server room of the bad guys, the problem is he can only access it from outside. Cue amazing climbing scene as Ethan scales the outside of the bloody tall building with sticky gloves! This scene really uses IMAX to its full potential with high shots looking straight down as Ethan climbs, swings and almost falls on several occasions. While this is going on, the other members of the team, Brandt (Jeremy Renner), Simon Pegg (Benji Dunn) & Paula Patton (Jane Carter) are running around getting the other aspects of the mission done. All of this cross cutting between the team and Ethan climbing is made more tense by the fact that they only have a short time to do it all. All in all, this scene is edge of your seat stuff. The IMAX format makes the high scenes toe tinglingly effective. Continue reading
