TRAILER & POSTER: The Human Centipede 2 (Full Sequence)

Let me just start by saying, for the record, I have not seen (nor do I want to see) the first “Human Centipede” film. The film holds very little interest for me but I understand that there are people who dig it and so I present to you the poster (in all of of it’s hi res goodness) and the new trailer for “The Human Centipede 2 (Full Sequence)”.

Two things that might interest you, 1) Those that complained that the first film didn’t go far enough, this film is supposed to cross the line so have fun with that and 2)The film has already been banned in the UK and cut in the US markets, Australia is apparently getting it uncut in October. I just want to say hold that thought, if I know the Australian censors at all, I believe this will get cut or banned at the last minute. I don’t want this to happen, but when enough people complain, our censors over react. Click the picture at the top of the post to see the full hi-res poster and watch the trailer below.

If it doesn’t get banned – “The Human Centipede 2 (Full Sequence)” should hit cinemas here in Australia in October.

Ayelet Zurer To Play Lara Lor-Van in The Man of Steel

Things change, that is what my mother always taught me and it would seem that this rings true on the set of “The Man of Steel”, Zack Snyder’s new Superman movie. Sometime ago we reported on the Film Actually podcast that Julia Ormond was set to play Kal-El/Superman’s birth mother Lara Lor-Van opposite Russell Crowe’s Jor-El. Well, for whatever reason (no official word as to why, yet), Deadline is reporting that Julia Ormond has left the production and has been replaced with Israeli actress Ayelet Zurer (“Vantage Point”, “Munich” & “Angels & Demons”).

I have no problem with this change as I have always found Julia Ormond a little bland and Zurer has put in some strong performances in the past. One last thing, if you don’t mind me being a little crass, she is also kind of hot.

Oh yeah, and this isn’t an origin story… sorry I just had to slide that one in :-)

TRAILER: John Dies at the End

Not since “Drag Me To Hell” has a horror film been so descriptive in the title. Don Coscarelli (“Bubba Ho-Tep”, “Phantasm”) is back and he brings the strange with him. Nobody has ever said that Coscarelli is a consummate filmmaker but he always brings great concepts and very entertaining films to the screen. “John Dies at the End” has something to do with drugs and out of body experiences and it feels vaguely like the trip fest that was Adrian Lyne’s “Jacob’s Ladder” back in 1990. This may just be one of those films that we don’t want to know too much about when we see it for the first time. I know I’ll be seeing this one.

“John Dies at the End” is written and directed by Don Coscarelli based on the novel by David Wong. It stars Chase Williamson, Paul Giamatti and Clancy Brown. It opens sometime in 2012.

What We’ve Been Watching:

A collection of other things we’ve been watching this week. Josh has been looking checking out episodes of “American Gothic” and “Sanctuary” as well as finishing off the Halloween films with “Halloween H2O”. David watched the season premieres of “Two and a Half Men” and “The Playboy Club”, plus finished watching the Star Wars films on Blu-Ray. Richard has been investigating the fourth season of “True Blood” and watched the films “Midnight in Paris” and “Attack the Block”. Also, we all saw “Red State” but we will review that in full at a later date.

Feature Film Review

‘Abduction’ directed by John Singleton and written by Shawn Christensen. It stars Taylor Lautner, Lily Collins, Alfred Molina, Jason Isaacs, Maria Bello, Sigourney Weaver and Michael Nyqvist.

A thriller centered on a young man who sets out to uncover the truth about his life after finding his baby photo on a missing persons website. Source: IMDB

Our Verdict: Truly awful but in the right way. This could just be the camp classic of the year. Do not pay cinema dollars but it is a must watch on disc. You will laugh till it hurts.

Lists of Five

This week our Lists of Five: Five Movies We’d Never Watch Again. This is a tricky one because the film could be a good or a bad, just a film that you’d never watch again for whatever reason.

Just a reminder, because we never like to just make things easy on ourselves, our lists are not necessarily top five lists, they are more or a less a list of film recommendations within the theme of the list.

Feedback

Matt challenges us to watch “Battle of Los Angeles” and no, that is not the Aaron Eckhart film. Challenge accepted Matt, we’ll report back soon.
