NEW TRAILER: The Muppets – The Pig with the Froggy Tattoo

They’re at it again, here is another muppets parody trailer, this time they skewer the new “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” trailer with their “The Pig with the Froggy Tattoo”.

Overall the trailer is fun and I love the text that pops up on screen, but it isn’t as solid as some of their earlier parodies. Watch it below.

“The Muppets” opens in Australia on the 5th of January 2012 from Disney.

NEW Photos & Posters from Footloose

Our very good friends over at Paramount Pictures Australia have made some new hi res stills and three new character posters available for the upcoming “Footloose” remake. I am actually looking forward to seeing this, it looks like they have really captured the essence and fun of the original film.

Here are the new character posters, just click the images below to see bigger versions.

“Footloose” is in Australian cinemas October 6th.

AUSTRALIAN POSTER: Red State

It is getting closer people, Kevin Smith’s magnificent new film “Red State” now has it’s Australian poster out and the film is just around the corner. The poster is just and adapted version of the US poster but it is ours and it carries the Australian release date. I want everyone to mark down that date in your calendars and see this film, it is so worth it.

From cult writer/director Kevin Smith (“Clerks”, “Dogma”) comes his tenth film, the hotly anticipated “Red State”, an utterly unique, intense thriller hell-bent on leaving audiences feeling uncomfortable, tense, dazed and never knowing what’s going to happen next. And that’s just the first 10 minutes!

In Middle America, three horny teenagers travel to isolated Cooper’s Dell after responding to an older woman’s online invitation for sex. However, their schoolboy fantasies turn sinister as Christian extremists led by the twisted but charismatic preacher Abin Cooper (Michael Parks) holds them captive in his compound known as the Five Points Church. They hadn’t quite expected this kind of the devil’s business! As the Pastor and his congregation embark on a reign of unholy terror forcing the boys to witness executions before being prepared for their own death, they have to contend with the arrival of Federal Agent Joseph Keenan (John Goodman) and his team who are armed, dangerous and ready to do anything to bring them down. But will they get to the preacher’s disciples before the Apocalypse?

Red State is released 13 October 2011 in Australia from Curious Film.

New Standee Art for The Adventures of Tintin

I’m a little late off the mark on this one but I have been moving house. But it is Tintin and you all know how excited I am for this film so I had to share it with you.

Our friends over at Way To Blue and Paramount Pictures Australia have made this fantastic piece of art available to us, it is the art that you will start to see as standees in cinemas. It is just such a wonderful image. Click the image above to see the hi res version.

“The Adventures of Tintin” is coming to cinemas in 3D this Christmas holidays.

The League Presents: Interview with Glenn Ficarra and John Requa on Crazy Stupid Love

The directors of Crazy Stupid Love, Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, were in Sydney last week to promote the release of their latest film in Australia. We also got a chance to ask them about their next project, Pharm Girl, set to star Reese Witherspoon.

At forty something, straight-laced Cal Weaver (Steve Carell) is living the dream—good job, nice house, great kids and marriage to his high school sweetheart. But when Cal learns that his wife, Emily (Julianne Moore), has cheated on him and wants a divorce, his “perfect” life quickly unravels. In today’s single world, Cal, who hasn’t dated in decades, and is taken on as wingman and protégé to handsome lothario Jacob Palmer (Ryan Gosling). It also  stars Emma Stone as a love interest for Gosling.

This is the second directorial effort from the duo, following last year’s brilliant I Love You Philip Morris. They are also behind the scripts for Bad SantaCats & Dogs andBad News Bears.

We need to thank Roadshow for making interview opportunity possible.

Crazy Stupid Love is released in Australia on 29 September 2011 from Roadshow Films. Continue reading

What We’ve Been Watching

A collection of other things we’ve been watching this week. This week Josh has been discovering some new TV shows and revisiting all of the “Halloween” films. David is making his way through the “Star Wars” Blu-Ray box set.

Feature Film Review

‘Fright Night’ directed by Craig Gillespie and written by Marti Noxon based on the 1985 film by Tom Holland. It stars Anton Yelchin, Colin Farrell, Toni Collette, David Tennant, Imogen Poots and Christopher Mintz-Plasse.

A remake of the 1985 original, teenager Charley Brewster guesses that his new neighbor Jerry Dandrige is a vampire responsible for a string of recent deaths. When no one he knows believes him, he enlists Peter Vincent, a self proclaimed vampire killer and Las Vegas magician, to help him take down Jerry. Source: Anonymous on IMDB

Our Verdict: Must see horror/comedy film that captures the flavour and tone of the original 1985 film but then makes it something new and original. Great stuff.

Lists of Five

This week our Lists of Five: Five of Our Favourite Horror Characters. It doesn’t matter about plot or quality, every film has that one stand out character that you love. Here are five of our favourites from horror films.
Just a reminder, because we never like to just make things easy on ourselves, our lists are not necessarily top five lists, they are more or a less a list of film recommendations within the theme of the list.
