NEW TRAILER AND POSTERS for Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1

Well, I’m not a huge fan of the series but there are a lot of them out there, so here are a couple of new posters and a brand new trailer for “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1”. You can hear our discussion about this new trailer on the latest episode of the Film Actually podcast (episode 56).

Here is the new trailer, scroll to the bottom for the new posters.

“The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1” is directed by Bill Condon and is written by Melissa Rosenberg based on the novel by Stephenie Meyer. It stars Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner. It opens on the 17th of November 2011. Continue reading

TRAILER: Burning Man

Now those that know me, know that I have had issues with some Australian films in the past, just listen to back episodes of the Film Actually and Geek Actually podcasts if you want more insight into those issues. But now, along comes the new trailer for “Burning Man”, here is an Australian film that looks unique and original and I actually want to see it.

“Burning Man” is the reckless, sexy, funny, moving and ultimately life-affirming story of Tom, a British chef in a Bondi restaurant, who seems to have decided there are no longer any rules he needs to obey. Whatever Tom is up to, his actions seem to be tolerated by those around him. As Tom descends into darkness, fragments of a different story begin to emerge. All the women in his world are trying in their own, very different ways to help put him back together.

Burning Man – Trailer by Paramount_Australia

“Burning Man” is directed by Jonathan Teplitzky and starring Matthew Goode, Bojana Novakovic, Essie Davis, Kerry Fox, Rachel Griffiths, Kate Beahan & introducing Jack Heanly. It opens October 27th 2011.

TRAILER: We Bought A Zoo

I love Cameron Crowe films. This is the man who brought us “Say Anything”, “Jerry Maguire” and “Almost Famous” and he has a knack for great character pieces.

Here Mr. Crowe breaks the rules of W.C. Fields about not working with children or animals by making a film about a family that buys a zoo. This looks really interesting but it walks a very fine line between heartwarming and too saccharin sweet. The film stars a serious Matt Damon and the sensational Elle Fanning (“Super 8”), I want to see it.

“We Bought a Zoo” directed by Cameron Crowe and written by Cameron Crowe and Aline Brosh McKenna based on the memoir by Benjamin Mee. It stars Matt Damon, Scarlett Johansson, Elle Fanning and Thomas Haden Church. It opens in December 2011.

Studio and Live Show Update

Hi Everyone,

Just a quick update to keep everyone up to date on the move and the live show broadcasts. We had hoped to have everything back up and running by September 17th but the move has taken a lot longer than expected. We are now all moved to the new premises but it is still a complete mess.

The long and the short of this is that the normal schedule will now resume on the 24th of September. Geek Actually and Film Actually will return as live shows on that date. Film Actually has managed to come out each week as a pre-recorded show during this chaos and will continue to do so.

Tomorrow we are going to record this week’s Film Actually episode from the new studio and we are going to attempt to do it live starting around 12 – 12.30pm. Everyone is welcome to join us but be aware that we have not even tested the equipment yet so there won’t be a lot of polish on the show, consider it a beta broadcast. We would love to have a chatroom going so please try and join us for what should be a fun time.

Thanks for your patience during this messy move and we hope that next week everything should start to go back to business as usual for Geek Actually.

Regards,

David

Film Actually Ep055 (147) – 13 Assassins and The Change-Up

Hosts: David McVay & Richard Gray

This week the podcast continues the re-numbering, this is now episode 55 or 147 in old money. David and Richard Gray fly solo as Josh is away having a well deserved break. This week is a short episode due to the studio move and it wouldn’t be right to do a Lists of Five without Josh, so David and Richard just review a couple of new releases for you, “13 Assassins” and “The Change-Up”. Film Actually is the official movie podcast of geekactually.com.

If you are an iTunes user, please leave a review. Your comments help us improve the show. This show carries an explicit tag due to infrequent coarse language.

*Note* The Film Actually show is taking a short break from live shows as we are currently moving the studio. The audio podcast will come out as normal during this time.

Listen or download it here or subscribe to it on iTunes

Make sure you check out our other fine podcast Geek Actually for all your tech and geek culture needs.

Normally you could watch us record Film actually live every Saturday starting at approximately 1.30pm (AEST UTC+10) at geekactually.com/live but not for the next couple of weeks.

Feature Film Review 1

‘13 Assassins’ directed by Takashi Miike and written by Daisuke Tengan based on the screenplay by Kaneo Ikegami. It stars Kôji Yakusho, Takayuki Yamada, Yûsuke Iseya and Gorô Inagaki.

A group of assassins come together for a suicide mission to kill an evil lord. Source: IMDB.

Our Verdict: A brilliant Japanese Samurai film that hits all the right marks emotionally and has one hell of a spectacular, extended action scene.

Feature Film Review 2

‘The Change-Up’ directed by David Dobkin and written by Jon Lucas and Scott Moore. It stars Jason Bateman, Ryan Reynolds, Olivia Wilde and Leslie Mann.

A comedy in which a married father accidentally switches bodies with his best friend, leading to a series of wildly complex difficulties. Source: IMDB.

Our Verdict: Better than expected. Not always successful but it has many laugh out loud moments. Worth watching if you like Apatow style comedies.
