Mirren Lee joins us for the entertainment section today, has Dave Kozicki met his match?

Entertainment News This Week: Adrien Brody to play Schwarzenegger in new Predators movie, where are the clones in Resident Evil 4, Marlon Wayans to play Richard Pryor and would someone please stop Terry Gilliam from chasing windmills.

Our Feature Reviews: This week David, Dave and Josh review the new Rian Johnson film ‘The Brothers Bloom’ and David and Mirren review Nora Ephron’s new film ‘Julie & Julia’. ‘The Brothers Bloom’ is well received by all but Josh had a few reservations. General consensus, not as sharp as Rian Johnson’s first film ‘Brick’ but still a good film. The female characters are the best thing in it. David and Mirren both really liked ‘Julie & Julia’, especially Meryl Streep’s performance as Julia Child. Very good date film.

Is Left 4 Dead 2 Coming to Australia?

Left 4 Dead 2Okay I am going to start by saying that I have no hard facts yet. However, that being stated, it looks like Valve’s Left 4 Dead 2 might get an Australian release with an MA15+ rating.

Now before we start cheering, we don’t know if it is an edited version or the uncut version. The only real information we have at this point comes from kotaku.com but a little birdie (that will remain nameless at this time) has told me this from another source as well.

I will keep my eye on the major news sources and report if I see any real hard news about this surfaces.

In the meantime, we really do need to keep up the effort to bring in an R18+ rating for games to Australia so this doesn’t happen again. Write to your state’s Attorney General and tell him that you want an R18+ rating brought in to effect in Australia. This is particularly important if you live in South Australia as it is your Attorney General who is keeping the R18+ classification from being brought forward. If enough people get involved we might be able to bring about change.

Geek Actually Episode 54 – The Curious Case of Roman Polanski

Geek ActuallyDavid McVay is joined by Josh Philpott and Special Guest Dave Kozicki (Freelance journalist, Official Playstation, Australian Xbox, Ultimate Nintendo and Penthouse magazines)

Game News This Week: Some updates on the Left 4 Dead 2 Australian Ban, Dave amends his ‘Wet’ review and Dave and Josh discuss upcoming events.

In “Great Internet Tech War of 2009” News: Apple buys PlaceBase to possibly compete with Google Maps.

Tech News This Week: An Aussie investor loses his $445 million patent case against Microsoft, The Australian Pirate Party has landed and Integral Energy faces a virus problem that could shut down the power grid.

Entertainment News This Week: Set pictures surface from ‘Green Hornet’ (maybe it will happen after all), the ‘Warhammer 40,000’ movie could be coming, Has Uwe Boll made a good film with ‘Rampage’, ‘The Crazies’ gets a remake and we review the trailer, we review the trailer for the ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street’ remake, Michael Bay announces ‘Transformers 3’ and has a personal message to Megan Fox, Australian cable provider Foxtel now has free TV and movie downloads and finally we have a major discussion about Roman Polanski getting arrested in Switzerland.

Our Feature Reviews: This week we review the new CG animated movie ‘Astro Boy’. Dave Kozicki thinks the film is raping his childhood but David and Josh are a little more positive. The film isn’t great but 10 year olds will have fun.

As always this episode carries an explicit tag due to bad language.
